Privacy policy

Your data, kept small.

Last updated 17 October 2026

We collect as little as possible. No account is needed to use UK Food Spot, and we never sell your data.

Who we are

UK Food Spot (ukfoodspot.co.uk) is run from the United Kingdom. For anything about your data, email [email protected].

What we collect, and why

Our lawful basis is your consent (newsletter, notifications) and our legitimate interest in running and correcting the guide (forms and reports).

What stays on your device

Saved dishes, dishes you mark "I tried this" (used for Your Food Year), your chosen city, theme and layout are stored only in your own browser. "Near me" uses your location only on your device to sort dishes by distance. It is never sent to us or stored.

Services we use

Cookies

We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. To see how many people visit and which pages help, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without collecting personal data about visitors. If we add affiliate links in future, the partner may set a cookie when you click one, so they know the visit came from us. Any such link will be clearly labelled (see Terms & disclosure).

Some dish pages offer "See their photo": the restaurant's own Instagram post, shown with Instagram's official embed. Nothing loads from Instagram until you tap it; once you do, Instagram (Meta) may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy.

How long we keep data

Newsletter emails until you unsubscribe. Form submissions for up to 24 months, or less if you ask. Notification settings until you turn them off or they stop working.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask to see, correct or delete your data, object to how we use it, or withdraw consent at any time. Email us. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
